We were recently called out to a restaurant kitchen to fix a plumbing installation that was creating daily problems for staff. The existing setup included separate hot and cold hose bibs that had been improperly installed and were not designed for heavy commercial use.
For businesses that rely on dependable plumbing systems, having fixtures installed correctly is critical. You can learn more about how we handle these types of projects on our commercial plumbing page.
The Problem
Every time one of the valves was turned on, water sprayed outward, soaking nearby workers. In addition, both hose bibs were loosely mounted. There was no solid structural backing inside the wall, so the valves shifted and loosened with use.
- Improper mounting inside the wall
- No structural backing support
- Separate valves not ideal for commercial demand
- Water spraying when activated
Why Mounting Support Matters in Commercial Settings
In a commercial kitchen, fixtures are used constantly throughout the day. Without solid backing and proper mounting hardware, movement inside the wall eventually leads to leaks, damaged finishes, and repeat service calls. Small installation shortcuts often turn into larger repair issues.

How We Fixed It
We removed the improperly installed hot and cold hose bibs and opened the wall to properly secure the plumbing. Solid backing was installed to provide structural support for the new fixture.
To create a clean and durable finish, we fabricated and installed a stainless steel trim plate. Finally, we installed a proper all-in-one commercial hot and cold hose bib designed for heavy use.
The new fixture is solidly mounted, operates smoothly, and no longer sprays water onto employees when turned on.
